Best mac pro for video editing 2012

Titles, bumpers, some video in video. Thanks for your feedback, it is appreciated. Entomber Admirable. Apr 21, 2, 0 7, It could do video editing at an acceptable rate, but it surely wouldn't be the best you could get. I'm not sure what you mean by "outfitted" in this case. May 7, 8 0 4, 0.

I don't know why anyone would say that an older Mac Pro would not be good at video editing.

They are still the standard edit room platform, as the transition to the new mac pro has just started. First, which editing software are you going to be based on? Its slightly relevant, though all will work great on an older mac pro given you have upgraded to enough ram. I would upgrade to a higher end GPU from the nvidia family, unless you intend to run final cut x alone, in which case you can replicate the dual firepros of the new mac pro to stay on the same curve as that app gets written to take advantage of that gpu setup. The mac pros can have the CPUS upgraded, you can get up to 3.

For people that get paid to edit film, video, television, etc.

These machines have a lot of life left in them as editors. If you start to work with 4k footage, you will hit bottlenecks there but frankly, everyone is without being connected to expensive fibrechannel type storage in facilities. Look at barefeats. You will find a comparison of how you can set up a classic mac pro to benchmark as high as the most expensive new mac pro. I myself am upgrading my mac pro to this standard as we speak.

Input Devices That nice Apple keyboard and Magic Mouse are real workhorses for day-to-day computing, but they may be slowing you down for editing work. Just like the keyboard, mice are probably better at general use than video editing. Consider adding a trackpad, such as the Magic Trackpad, or a graphics tablet to your collection of input devices.

Am I wasting time and energy or should I go more contemporary? There are more GPU accelerated features in Premiere like decoding for many codecs, inherent effects like Position, Scale, etc, Lumetri color, some blurs, the list goes on. Those things don't rely heavily on the GPU. AE can actually push a GPU. Ray traced lighting and some blur and motion blur push a GPU hard.

If you work with long gop media or want some color effects in real time going from a Q to a would make a major difference.

If you're using the Ray Traced renderer today you have my deepest sympathy. AE is starting to tap it more and more, but it's still pretty CPU dependent. It's a pain in the ass, but it works.
